October 26-30, 2005 - Mayan Elders Call for Worldwide Prayer 

Gerardo Barrios Kanek and Mercedes Barrios Longfellow, Maya Mam Elders, will gather in prayer and ceremony with other Maya Elders at the new Nimajai (sacred house of prayer) in Sacala, Guatemala for the ceremonies of Waxaqib B¹atz¹,  the Maya New Year.  They are sending you the following  prayer, so that we may all connect with the Four Directions in the spirit of asking Mother Earth¹s  forgiveness and visualizing good fortune and health for all of the people suffering in various parts of the world.

This prayer takes place over the course of five days, ending on the day of the Maya New Year.

Oct. 26, 2005  is 4 Kiej in the Sacred Maya Cholqij Calendar.   Kiej  is the animal kingdom, an important part of the balance of our planet, which must be treated with great care and respect.  Prayers will begin at 10 a.m. EDT today, for however long you wish to connect.

Oct. 27 (Thursday) is 5 Qaniil.   Qaniil isthe energy of new beginnings, of implementing new ideas and programs.  The prayers begin at 10 a.m. EDT.

Oct. 28 (Friday) is 6 Toj.   Toj is the energy of being of service, in gratitude for the multiple gifts of life.   Prayers begin at 10 a.m. EDT.

Oct. 29 (Saturday) is 7 Tz¹i.   Tz¹i is  the energy of living consciously and joyfully in cooperation with the Universe.  The prayers begin in the evening,  at 9 p.m. EDT, and go all night, until sunrise and beyond.  ( At  2  a.m. in the morning, which is now Oct. 30th, Daylight Savings Time ends  in the U.S., and 2  a.m. EDT  becomes 1  a.m. EST. )

Oct. 30 (Sunday) is  8 B¹atz¹.   B¹atz¹ is the energy of making a shift in consciousness and striving to see and feel the beauty in all things.  The Waxaqib B¹atz ceremonies will take place from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. EST.

How to do the prayers:

Each day, ask permission to align with the energies of the Ajau of that day, and to connect with the prayers of the Maya Elders in Guatemala.  The most important aspect of your prayer is to ask forgiveness of the four directions, the Heart of the Heavens (east), the Heart of the Earth (west), the Heart of the Wind (north), and the Heart of the Water (south).  
Pray by visualizing good things for all of the people who are suffering inn Guatemala, Salvador, Mexico, and all of Central America.  Send prayers of well-being, harmony, understanding, and lots of light.

Then make the same visualizations and prayers for the people of Pakistan, Afghanistan and India.

And now do the same visualizations and prayers for all the people of the world.  Visualize humanity awakening into a higher consciousness.  Focus on unity, then humility, apnd then harmony, each in turn, and pray each time for humanity to manifest these higher states of being.

The Maya Elders welcome you to be with them  as you do these prayers, and know that you will be present at the Waxaqib B¹atz¹ ceremonies on Oct. 30th,  as we all unite in the spirit of One Heart to bring light and healing to all living beings and to Mother Earth.
